The ancestors of Blanche Louise McRaven-Schlenker [31st October 1920 at McClure in Union Co., Illinois
Since the McCreevan/McCreaven/McCraven/McCravens/McRavens/McReaven/McRavin/McRaven family appears to have been Presbyterian during the colonial times, it is probable that they are of Northern Irish [Ulster-Scots] origin and stem from the Province of Ulster.
The colonialization of Ulster by the lowland Scots began during the reign of King James I of England. After quelling the Irish rebellion of 1607, he devided the Province of Ulster into lots and offered them for sell to colonists. In 1610 fifty-nine wealthy Scots purchased 81,000 acres, and by 1640 they had settled 100,000 lowland Scots, mostly from the areas of Dumbortonshire, Renfrewshire, Ashire, Galloway, and Dumbrieshire in Scotland, on this land which was located primarily in the Counties of Ulster, Down, and Antrim in Northern Ireland. These Lowland Scots were Presbyterians [ followers of John Knox].
